The Mystery of Social Media

'The Rule of Thirds' concept will help you understand the importance of promoting, sharing and engaging with your online audience.

Social Media can be a daunting task for many people as there is a lot of mystery around it. I'd like to share one of the strategies that works well  - 'The Rule of Thirds.' This concept will help you understand the importance of promotingsharing and engaging with your online audience.

They often say, three’s a crowd, however when it comes to social media it’s never the case!

Promote

The first third is focused on promoting your own goods and services as this will help generate leads and sales for your business. It’s important to mix up how you promote your business otherwise your followers might start to tune out and stop taking notice of your brand - which is the last thing you want to happen!

Share

The second third is focused on sharing relevant content and industry related news with your audience. You need to prove to your followers that you’re interested in more than just your own business and are aware of what is going on in the industry. It’s all about balance - sharing both your story and industry related news.

Engage

The final third of the rule is all about engaging and connecting with your audience. Make them feel special and show how much you care about their loyalty to your business. There are many ways to interact and listen to your audience eg. online competitions, Q&A sessions or sharing a follower's message onto your page. Unlike promoting online, it’s difficult to over engage with your followers.
